In 2015 I. R. Bach was awarded with LACMA’s Art & Technology Lab grant to work on a mysterious light phenomenon that the artist discovered in a volcanic field near Mexico City. This three year project (2016 - 2019) resulted in surveillance still-frame photography and video shot with low-light cameras and drones. The series includes large format oil and acrylic paintings, land art, music and a light performance. The book “I want to know” was published by LACMA in 2019 followed by a conference at the Fulrcum Arts center in Pasadena. The Chronos performance was staged at the Griffith observatory to be viewed from the Broad Contemporary Art Museum building on the spring equinox of 2020. The Entities series was acquired by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art collection.
